21st Century Technology
It's amazing how new technology changes about every thirty seconds. One minute and I-pod or I-Phone comes out, the next minute, it's something else. I finally joined the 21st century with a purchase of a cell phone over the weekend, and I'm still trying to feel my way through this so please ease up off of the caveman jokes when it comes to embracing new technology for a while, O.k. I'm liking the cell phone, now if I can just get this text messaging thing figured out. peace out!
My thoughts about Louie Welch
Louie Welch, or Louie, Louie as I called him sometimes, was a former mayor of Houston, TX from 1963-1974. He passed away on 1/27/08 after battling lung cancer at the young age of 89. My memories of Louie Welch were those of playing around and having him "beat me up"(not literally of course, but you get the picture). I'm going to miss that, plus I'm also going to miss the fact that he cared about those who were less fortunate than others. Heaven gained a new "elected official". Peace out.

Mentorship
Hey there. I did not know what it is to be a mentor, but I had a situation come up in my lap. I am mentoring a student in 5th grade. This student is in the Cy-Fair School district in northwest Houston. I'm not only helping her out, but I'm beginning to bond with her like a big brother. January is National Mentoring Month and if you need more info on how to be a mentor just Google the word mentor. Peace.

Humble Pie(The Good Kind)
Hello there. I never knew that humble pie can be a good thing(sorry about the Martha Stewart reference). Yesterday, Jan. 13th, was a prime example of that. During our morning worship assembly at Bammel Church of Christ, our connecting minister, Michael Montalvo, mentioned my six-year-old niece, Mary. I actually turned red blushing(for those of you that were there, you couldn't see it, but it happened). I was floored to say the least, but someone in my connection group mentioned that God is planting seeds for even the littlest of those who love Him. I'm amazed at how God does what he does. I don't view myself as anyone better than anyone else. i just do my thing, and the rest is history. I'm beginning to like the blushing part, even if you can't see it. Peace.

A New Era in 2008
Hello there. 2008 is almost here and this means there are a lot of new things to explore. One of the biggest things for me to explore is where God wants me as pertaining to "singles ministry". I am a member of the Bammel Church of Christ in Houston, Texas and I am currently a part of the Bammel Young Professionals/Singles ministry. Our numbers are down and I believe that our group is at a crossroads heading into 2008. I read an interesting article on how to minister to single Christians and I found it very interesting to say the least. It's opened my eyes to some new possibilities and it has also made me aware of the things that our group has done in the past and is doing today. I don't know what God has in store for this group in '08, but I hope and pray that we will continue to be a force for His kingdom. Peace out!
My Christmas
Hello again. Christmas has come and gone for another year and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Christmas for me was smaller than years past, but fun. I received a lot of clothes, a new and even bigger grill, courtesy of George Foreman, and I received some other gifts. one gift that I enjoy receiving all year round is the grace and peace that God has given me through our Lord Jesus Christ. My prayer is that this gift be shared year round especially as we head into 2008. Peace.
